WHY DONKEYS? I set up « Autour de l’âne » with the objective of working with my donkeys and, by organising walks, allowing others to discover this animal. The sale of various products and books means that I can maintain this activity all year round and help people become more knowledgeable. It all started in 1982, when I was 8 years old and discovered horse-riding. That was the beginning of my love for horses and my riding activities. My father, however, through personal experience, had more confidence in donkeys than horses, so in 1988 he introduced me to Mona, 3 days old, and her mother. This charming, lively bundle of fur won my father’s heart. Since then we have travelled many kilometres together. When I set up my business, in 2004, we were no longer alone. Today, Mona has 5 companions who I selected for their physical condition, their age and size, but also because they had been abandoned. I still love the elegance of the horse, its spirit, its energy, but I prefer the donkey and its character, which resembles an independent cat. It knows what it wants and has no difficulty in letting you know too. In addition, it is a very gentle animal (but beware of taking advantage of this) who enjoys the company of humans, whether to work with them or be pampered by them. Here are my 5 large-eared friends
